Had a chance to participate in the university's 2012 Art Symposium, an event that supports the art presence on campus allowing people to preform artistic talents or sell their pieces of work.
Though tempted to share my new dance moves I learned in the university's Bollywood class, I opted in the end to simply sell a few painting as well as Christmas cards. Other 'vendors' sold everything from painting (obviously), to jewelry, to photography prints, to iPhone cases, to fascinators! Everything for sale at the Symposium was hand made by the students. Acts included a cappella choirs, contortionists, Bollywood (I very nearly ran onto the stage and joined the dance), pianists, and one new-age techno band singing Russian drinking songs... which as you can imagine was... quite unimaginable...
It was a very successful day paintings wise, cards sales were not quite so hot. On the bright side I do not have to worry about making Christmas cards for this year, and can focus on more important things like watching the Planet Earth series for the 5th time or hiking with friends through the cursed snowless tundra known as Southern Ontario.
I am a first year student double majoring in Fine Arts as well as Environment and Resource Studies. I live on a family farm in the country. I love new socks, the first chill fall night when you break out your duvet, and racing deer on our country side road. Along with art I am passionate about my faith, investing in the people I love, all things nature, solid well planned pranks, and racing (cross country and triathlons).
